Physical Education Action Plan 202324

Physical Education Action Plan 2023/24

Physical Education Action Plan 2023/24

In accordance with the outlines and recommendations made by the YST (youth sports trust). Earl's Court Free School Primary adopts the principles and guidelines that have been set. This includes that schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. This means that we will use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to:

  •  develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
  •  build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

Key Indicators- The Department for Education vision is that all pupils leaving primary school are physically literate and have the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. The objective is to achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport that delivers high quality provision of a balanced and holistic PE and school sport offer. There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across:

1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school

2. The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement

3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport

4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils

5. Increased participation in competitive sport

KEY INDICATOR 1: The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that primary school children undertake at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day in school

1. Sports equipment on the playgrounds: Both the grassy areas and playgrounds to be provided with play equipment specifically used for breaks and lunch times. The equipment will also be changed seasonably keeping which keep children engaged. £2100

• By introducing specific playground equipment, children will be able to differentiate the difference between the playground equipment and equipment for PE

• Changing equipment seasonally means that games are rejuvenated which will result in children who anticipate with excitement the different games that can be played.

• By having equipment for different activities that is changed seasonally, it means that rather than getting all brand new equipment at once, the children will use the equipment at different periods of the year resulting in prolonged durability and appreciation

• For the future, the outlook will be to source different games and activities.

1. Sports coaching at Lunchtimes: Sports coach coming into school daily to run sessions with each year group during lunchtimes £2800

• All children are provided with additional sports training to upskill them in sports, but also to engage them in a less formal way.

• All children are engaged in physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day at school

• By having a sports coach, we can vary the activities pupils play at lunchtime and provide more structured play as well as engaging in physical activity
